COLOURED LENSES - HOW THEY ARE MADE
On glasses can be mounted lenses intended to protect the eyes from the effects of excessive amounts of radiation.
These are the colored lenses that can be neutral (without any grade for those who only need to protect your eyes from the sun\'s rays) or graduated and then colored (for those who need eyeglasses + sun).
To protect your eyes from strong sunlight is a necessity because real morbid manifestations of the ocular tissues can only arise as a consequence of exposure to high doses of infrared and ultraviolet radiation. The entrance into the eye of a large amount of white light only causes a glare that causes feelings of discomfort and asthenopia disorders.
The lenses used to remedy the damage or the drawbacks caused by radiation are intended to have a selective action preventing the passage of some radiation of certain wavelength (infrared, ultraviolet) or to decrease the amount of all the components in a uniform manner spectrum intended to reach the eye.
The percentage amount of light radiation to which these lenses prevent the passage (ie their "absorption"), can vary from 15% to about 75%. This absorption of radiation is obtained by "coloring" the lenses, by means of various metal oxides to color the user\'s choice.
The brown lenses are those which exert a more uniform absorption over the entire band of the visible spectrum and that have accordingly increased color fidelity to the external environment.
HOW TO GET THE COLORED LENSES.
The colored lenses are obtained by depositing on their surface a very thin layer of metal oxides whose thickness ranges from 0.1 to 1 microns. On this layer another one of magnesium fluoride is then deposited which, in addition to the colored surface to confer a greater resistance to scratches has an anti-reflection function.
