How to deal with children's eye problems

The perfect vision of the baby is also of great importance for her good schooling. Against this, children\'s eye problems are increasingly common and numerous.
When the vision suffers, it is very likely that school work does not proceed regularly.
Of this dad and mum are certainly aware, but not everyone regularly addresses the specialist. Well, diagnostic delays can compromise proper visual development.
Problems with the eyes of children arise mainly in school age: according to recent surveys a child in four has vision problems.

Oculist Visit: The Importance of Early Diagnosis
Visiting newly born neonatologists has become a good habit of all the European Obstetricians and Gynecology Centers. Early diagnosis of children\'s eye problems, in fact, improves prognosis and promotes rehabilitation.
The first eye ophthalmic examination for a child with no special birth problems is generally recommended to one year of age when, among other things, it will be necessary to evaluate the ocular and synchronous eyebrow movement.
If the child does not have any suspicion of vision problems, it is generally advisable to undertake an eye ophthalmic check as early as the first year of life of the baby.
Subsequently, taking into account the information of the eye specialist, it is best to make visits every 1-2 years.

Visual defects: myopia, astigmatism and hypermetropia
The main problems in the eyes of children are myopia, astigmatism and hypermetropia.
These most common visual pathologies are added: strabismus and conjunctivitis.
Strabismus is a deviation of one eye, or both, with respect to the norm.
It often cures with permanent lenses, surgery, bandage (obstruction of the straight or dominant eye).
Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva - acute or chronic - and can be infectious, allergic and / or irritative.
Other pathologies that cause problems for children
Unfortunately, the list of children\'s eye problems does not end with the listed pathologies.
There are others that represent as many serials as threats. Between these:
- Eyelid ptiosis is an eyelid disorder that can be congenital or acquired. It may be one-sided (lower eyelid than the other) or bilateral (lowering both eyelids). The ptosis cares with the surgery.
- Lazy eye syndrome represents a visual reduction of an eye and is not related to organic pathologies. About 2% of children are affected in the early years of life. It usually attacks an eye, even though in some cases both eyes are involved.
- Orbital and calazo apparently similar, are actually two different inflammatory processes.
- Dryness and tearing in the infant are the most important symptoms of congenital obstruction. 80-90% of infants exhibits this symptom, but few (5-10%) of those who need to undergo surgery.

The visit from the child\'s ocularist is therefore always advisable and it is even more so if the child crawls on the books to read, often wrinkles his eyes, rivets his face or crowns his forehead while observing an object, complaining at the same time headache.
